When to Plant: Direct sow in early spring after the danger of frost has passed. Sequential plantings every 2 to 4 weeks apart will provide continuous color and bouquets.
Fresh Cut Flowers: Harvest bouquets in early morning or late afternoon hours. Collect flowers that are completely open, removing leaves below the water line. Zinnias have a vase life of 5-7 days. Overhead watering is not recommended. Harvest flowers regularly to encourage more blooms.
Requirements: Adores full sunshine, prefers well drained soil. To reduce diseases, plant in areas that have good air circulation. Ph between 6.0 to 6.5. Apply fertilizer at a rate of 1.5 to 2.0 pounds of actual nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft. Use 1-1-1 ratio fertilizer is adequate. Apply a portion of fertilizer at planting, some in late June and a final application August 1st.
